Fellas, if you ever needed an excuse to stop shaving this is it! Put down the razor and start growing or perfecting that beard for the annual Beard Competition at the Foggy Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Kinglake.
Now in its third year, the Foggy Mountain beard-off sees Kinglake locals and Bluegrass fans parade their bushy beards to raise funds and awareness in support of White Ribbon Australia’s campaign to stop violence against women.
This year the competition is set to get even hotter with members from Australian rock band ‘The Beards’ attending the festival to judge the competition. These guys know a thing or two about beards, having written and performed songs exclusively about beards for over 10 years and appearing at the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.
‘The Beards’ judges John Beardman Jr and Nathaniel Beard will award the best beard a $500 prize, with other prizes also up for grabs including a People’s Choice Award. Entry is $20 with all proceeds going to White Ribbon Australia.
